Dear Mr. Phelps,
Your letter reached me here in camp. Thanks
very much for all the encouragement. I often get so completely
discouraged - when
I run up against a snag - that I feel as if I must give in.
I had to break off typing on the Pioneers soon after - practically,
when - I sent you the fragment which you received. Since
then the ms. has lain fallow. I am just setting somewhat
settled here now and hope within a day or so to be at work
again. This is a beautiful solitude and wilderness. But I
prefer Lake Manitoba.
Hoping that Mrs. Phelps, you and yours are well, I remain,
Sincerely
yours,
F.P.G.
