FPG's Letters to A. L. Phelps

26. 1924:
Rapid City, Man.    April 9, 1924

Dear Mr. Phelps,

About 3 weeks ago I wrote you in a great hurry asking you to be kind enough to return to me my ms. of "The Search for America ". I have not, since, heard from you.

I have, for the last five months or so, tried strenuously to place one or two of my writings, without success. I have, now, a chance to sell some small clipping to magazines. Publishers or public to apparently not want any of my books as such. I am very anxious to make what little money I can by selling parts of them. So I am going to cut them up and "huckster" them out. If they are such as would make their way, they will, I believe, still do so.

When I wrote to you before, I did so under the impression of the unexpected discovery that I have no other Ms of the Search available - 2 or 3 having been lost in publishers offices or elsewhere.

I am very much worried about this one the whereabouts of which I know. Please set me at rest.

Yours truly,
F.P.Grove
