FPG's Letters to A. L. Phelps

Rapid City, Man.    May 21, 1925

Dear Phelps,

That is more easily said than done - sending a lot of things to Gordon, I mean -

I have sent him the copy of that talk of mine on the novel which I meant to send to you. Also "Lost" and The "Marsh Fire". But that is absolutely all I could find.

I have novels, but few short things. I fact, I have no Mss. Of short things here at all, at least I can't find any. I suppose you left the booklets which you have of mine, in W'peg? What kind of things does he want? He says "Articles". I don't rightly know what that is. Do you? If you see the man, suggest that he send me books to review, fiction above all, preferably good fiction, indicating how many words he wants.

I have just received "M. Ripois" and Arthur Stringer's "Power" for the Bookman with whom I had an epistolary feud. He gave me "a free hand" - I tore Stringer to pieces and praised Hemon. I told him I didn't care whether he printed that stuff: but I could not stand for any editing. I'll enclose copies. Please preserve or return them. If you see Gordon, show them to him. That's what I would do in reviews - good or bad, I don't know. It's what I think, anyway.

Yours
F.P.G.

Are you going to be up for the convention?
