FPG's Letters to A. L. Phelps

56. 1925:
Rapid City, Man.    October 7, 1925

Dear Phelps,

Thanks for the 2 bulletins.

Yes, Settlers of the Marsh is supposed to be on the market in N.Y. day after tomorrow, Oct 9. When it will be out in Canada , I can't tell. But I'm worried, worried.

All right - that bed on the sleeping porch will be highly welcome - my pocket-book is at low ebb. I see the C.P.R. is issuing a pass for me as a "Special Publicity Agent". Don't laugh, now!

I'll arrive at 5:15 p.m. C.P.R. from Minnedosa, unless the schedules have changed. Since I want to send this off by tomorrow morning's mail, I cannot verify the time. So, unless you meet me somewhere, I shall try to navigate the streets of the city by dead reckoning, trying to steer a course for Bakdale Place in St. James. If I don't get there, you must know I have foundered or struck a rock. I am a "hick" you know.

However, I think I shall make it.

I have, so far, no idea where [or] when that meeting is to be. Kirkconnell, I suppose, is going to drop me a line.

Very well, I'll count on staying till Tuesday morning. My time is worth less just now than anything else in the world.

I'd like to make a call or two while there.

So long,
F.P.Grove
