FPG's Letters to A. L. Phelps

100. 1926:
Rapid City, Man.    [with Nov/Dec 1925?]

Th Night

Dear Phelps,

Oh, I'll come; but 1stly, I have said, here and there, about all I have to say and talked myself out and 2ndly - well, let it go.

I'll come if you make up a program. I'd like to read - of reading it is - of the Daily Bread .

I'd have to go in on Saturday the 19 [?] - for the connections are too uncertain to rely on them on Monday.

I'd stay, frankly, only as long as the C.A.A. pays expenses, for I got home with $1.05 out of $20 which were borrowed from Mrs. Grove's household funds. I'll have to borrow the fare here from the bank or from May who is the richest one of the family - After New Years of course, I'll be flush, apparently, because I intend selling a $500 bond on Jan. 1 st .

Thanks for telling me about Lasker. I trust that chap's judgment.

I'm writing to Marshall whose enquiry reached me with your letter.

By the way, that bundle of Saturday Nights with your review must have miscarried. Mrs. Grove did not receive it. Can you still secure a copy or two? You know, I wanted to make up a sheet for my U.S.A. agent - I should want your review for that.

The local paper which I just received ignores the Christmas review - the first time they've ever done so.

Well, since I wrote you before, this is all.

My cold is getting better.

Mrs. G. is much encouraged. Says she wants to teach another year. I told her what I told you. I'll consent if $500 are made in one way or another.

Yours,
F.P.G.
