FPG's Letters to A. L. Phelps

112. 1927:
Rapid City, Man.    February 11, 1927

Dear A.L.P.,

Thanks for the promise. Ca 100 to 150 words, I would think - send to Miller direct, if you please.

175 Nepeau St .
Ottawa

Though, of course, I'd be curious about the text.

I've just reread the jacket blurb of the "Settlers", to count the words. That's what killed the book. I don't blame anybody for not buying it. It shows such an utter lack of brains as I should not have thought possible.

By the way, Calendars from U's & Colleges are joining in - each accompanied by a long and carefully worded letter telling me that I'll find just the kind of tuition I'm looking for. At first I felt contrite, thinking of the purpose, the vile, commercial purpose I want them for. But after a while their own commercialism downed upon me.

This, by the way, is birthday week with us. Both Mrs. G. and myself advance.

I received the first birthday present I've had in about 40 years: 6 vols. of Hardy's. Great.

Well,

Yours,
F.P.G.
