FPG's Letters to A. L. Phelps

143. 1930:
Ottawa, Ont.    April 26, 1930

In bed, with a relapse into my old troubles.

My dear A.L.P.,

As for the title, I think "Towards Criticism" - without the word "Essays" - is about the best I can think of and perhaps the best that can be thought of.

My stenog. tells me Kirk's share of the vol. has arrived.

I just had work from England that the printing of my classics is being proceeded with and that the printers are drawing on me for $2580, first installment. My travelers have fallen down for a week or two so Kirk will still have to be patient. I'll start printing his vol. of verse the moment I have weathered this work (financial).Just had a wire saying that that money is provided for (had it since I wrote the last sentence; so that is that). The trouble is that it is all out go and no income yet. My travelers cost like the devil; and what they sell is negligible because they have so little to sell. However, I see light now; and from June on everything should be plain sailing and will be if I can make it. I truly hope this back trouble is not going to last.

Cheer up and work! Let me have that Ms. I won't feel safe until I have it.

Yours,
F.P.G.
