BIn life thou grewest; and it was thy aim
To embody that conception of high worth
Which lived in me of thee. But when death came
And bore thee to the bottom of the earth,

The image which of me lived in thy soul
Assumed such features stern, immutable
That it became my task to make it whole
And live it till me, too, release death's knell.
