Heinemann, 1895) was the second of Greve's first three (of six) Wells translations, which he partly did while in Bonn prison in 1903/1904. The Urbana-Champaign Wells Collection contains correspondence indicating that Greve negotiated these initial translations in November, 1903, giving his address simply as "Wilhelmstrasse 19, Bonn." A year later, he sent copies of "Die Zeitmaschine," "Moreau," & "Riesen" to Wells, with the following mss. dedication on the title page of "Riesen" accounting for all three books: "Dear Mr. Wells, / May I send you the three first volumes of / this new edition of your works as a sign of / my profound admiration? / Yours very truly / F. P. Greve / Wollerau, November, 1904." The original German edition was translated in 1904 by FPG (= Felix Paul Greve, later Frederick Philip Grove) for Bruns Publishers in Minden. The translator FPG's 1904 presentation copy to the author H. G. Wells had opposite t.p. advertisement which listed as previously published: Food for the Gods [orig. Macmillan, 1904] / Die Riesen kommen [both 1904, meaning, it was a near simultaneous translation!] ; The Island of Doctor Moreau [orig. Heinemann, 1896] / Doktor Moreaus Insel, [1904]. -- Listed as forthcoming were: The first Men in the Moon [orig. Newnes, 1901] / Die ersten Menschen im Mond [1905] & When the Sleeper Wakes [orig.
