Biography of Douglas O. Spettigue:
Biographical sketch: Douglas Odell Spettigue, professor of English at Queen's University, is well known for his literary research into the life and writings of Frederick Philip Grove. He is widely credited for the discovery of Grove's earlier German identity, Felix Paul Greve. Grove had already contributed notably to the literature of his own country with poetry, at least two novels, and voluminous translations and criticisms before he began a new life and writing career in Canada. Besides his work on Grove, Spettigue has also written several short stories.

Scope and Contents of Collection Mss 57:
The collection contains the following research papers relating to Frederick Philip Grove: articles; a Grove bibliography project; a Grove biography project; books; correspondence; diaries; dissertation abstract; encyclopedia entries; lectures; radio debates; reviews; travel notes; 1892 passenger lists and materials by and about F. P. Greve.-- The collection does not contain any of Spettigue's own literary material. Restrictions on Access: No restrictions on access.
