Three Times a Full Red Moon over New York: Total Lunar Eclipse, Oct. 8, 2014

Expressionist Version (bottom)

Comment:
In the process of adapting the beautiful shot (center) of a so-called "Blood Moon"* hanging over the New York City skyline during a total lunar eclipse on October 8, 2014, I created more or less accidentally the equally beautiful "pixelated" neo-impressionist / pointillist** and colourful expressionist "paintings," which, I decided, were well worth showcasing here.

* About this eclipse phenomenon, see the Time+Date site. Image found at AsrtoWow.
** Apple Dictionary entries:
: - Pointillism, "... a technique of neo-impressionist painting using tiny dots of various pure colors, which become blended in the viewer's eye. It was developed by Georges Seurat with the aim of producing a greater degree of luminosity and brilliance of color."
- Expressionism, " ... a modernist movement originating in Europe at the turn of the 20th century, and seeing the world from a subjective perspective rather than aiming at realistic representation.
